The Art of Contour: How to Flatter a Larger Nose Like a Pro

Whether you're a makeup newbie or seasoned, we've all got features that we either want to accentuate or subtly define. One facial feature that often gets most of the attention is the nose. If you've ever felt self-conscious about a larger nose and wondered how to master the perfect contour for it, you're in the right place! Let’s get started with these easy steps to help you contour your face.

Step 1: Prep Your Canvas

Before you even think about contouring, a smooth base is essential. I can't stress enough how important a good primer is; it's an absolute game-changer. My go-to at the moment is

It glides on so effortlessly, and is infused with vitamins A,C and E.

Step 2: Choose Your Tools Wisely

Remember those art class days? Just as you wouldn't use a broad brush for delicate lines, the same principle applies here. Opt for an

angled contour brush

and a

smaller blending brush

to really focus the product where you want it.

Step 3: The Right Shade Makes All the Difference

The color you choose for contouring is crucial. Aim for a shade that's about two tones darker than your natural skin tone. EyeBreakfast Cosmetics offers a variety of color pallets, but if you’re just starting out, I would highly recommend this pallet

which has become my absolute go-to and it’s very affordable.

Step 4: The Art of Application

Start with drawing two lines on both sides of your nose with your small brush and a tone or two shade darker than your skin, beginning from the brow bone and extending towards the nostrils. Keep these lines closer together at the top and slightly wider at the nostrils for a natural slimming effect. This technique draws the eye vertically, making your nose appear more slender.

Step 5: Blend, Blend, and Blend Some More

The secret to a believable contour is blending. Once you've mapped out your lines, use your blending brush to soften the edges. The aim is to create a shadow, not a stripe!

Step 6: Highlight to Elevate

To complete your masterpiece, a touch of

highlighter

down the bridge of your nose will work wonders. Try our

to really make that contour pop. It adds a touch of shimmer that will give your skin that radiant look.
